If you're looking for outdoor city hunts or puzzle trails in the UK, StreetHunt Games (streethuntgames.com) and Cluenaverse are two options to consider. Here's how they compare.

What is StreetHunt Games?

StreetHunt Games runs self-guided city hunts in London, York and Manchester. You use an interactive map (web app) and are alerted when virtual contacts have information; you race to locations, explore and unlock clues to crack the case before time runs out. Themes include The Case of Colombia's Finest and Will Breaker (start points vary by city). Duration is about 1.5-2 hours (excluding optional breaks; some shorter games run closer to 1-1.5 hours), price is from £16.50 per player (checkout often includes a small booking fee), and teams of 2-6 are recommended. The format is non-linear and has been praised for clever storylines and revealing quirky parts of the city. TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice winner (notably for London); corporate and group packages available.

What is Cluenaverse?

Cluenaverse is a mobile city quest and outdoor mystery experience. You use your phone to follow the story, decode clues and explore the city with your team. It’s built around clear, well-paced mysteries for different group sizes and ages, focused on central London.

Why consider Cluenaverse?

  • App-first London mystery - If you want a dedicated mobile app and a story-led quest in central London, Cluenaverse is built for that.
  • Native app - If you prefer a dedicated mobile app over a web-based map, Cluenaverse is built as an app experience.
  • Alternative - When comparing StreetHunt with other city hunts, Cluenaverse is a direct alternative with a different format.

Bottom line

StreetHunt Games is a strong choice for London, York and Manchester with a distinctive non-linear, map-led format and good value from £16.50 per player. Cluenaverse is a strong alternative if you want an app-led city quest and a different style of mystery in London. Both suit couples, friends, families and colleagues; choose by location and whether you prefer web-based map hunt (StreetHunt) or app-based quest (Cluenaverse).

After you complete onboarding, you'll see your unique referral link in the app. Share it with friends - anyone who uses it can join early access too. When paid quests launch, friends get 10% off their first quest and you earn 15% account credit. See our Referrals page for full details.

Cluenaverse is a mobile city quest and outdoor mystery experience. You follow a story, solve clues, and explore the city with your team. For a team, it is best if each player joins on their own phone. Our quests are self-guided. You play when you want, at your own pace, in central London.

Choose a quest, buy activation codes at checkout, then open the Cluenaverse app and redeem a code. Head to the start location with your team (2-6 players recommended). Each player should join the experience on their own phone. Follow the story - clues will guide you from location to location until you crack the case.

No. Cluenaverse quests are self-guided and flexible. Once you've bought a quest, you can start whenever it suits you (within the validity of your ticket). The app saves your progress if you want to pause and continue later.

Our quests are set in central London - areas like the South Bank, Westminster, Spitalfields, Bloomsbury, the City of London, and Covent Garden. Each quest has a different theme (murder mystery, spy thriller, literary mystery, and more) and a distinct route.

Most quests take between 2 and 3 hours if you move at a steady pace. You can take longer if you pause for food or drinks along the way. Duration is given on each quest page.

Quests are for colleagues, friends, families, and couples, in teams of 2 to 6. Age recommendations vary by quest - some are suitable for ages 10+, others for 12+ or 14+. Check the individual quest page for details.

Pricing is per quest location and is shown on each quest page when that location is for sale. You pay once for each activation code; your team of 2-6 typically shares one purchase (buy extra codes for larger groups).

Each player should bring a smartphone with the Cluenaverse app installed, plus comfortable shoes for walking and weather-appropriate clothing. No special equipment or prior knowledge of London is required.

Yes. A team gift voucher is one code for 2-6 players. You pay on the gift page, the code is emailed straight away, and it can be redeemed in the app from 1 March 2027. It is not tied to one quest yet. Unused codes can be refunded.

There is no time slot to cancel. Email the address in the footer and we will refund an activation code that has not been redeemed. A redeemed code is not refunded for a change of mind or the weather. If a fault on our side stops you finishing, we will refund or replace it. Details are in the Refunds and cancellation section of our Terms of Service.

Email the address in the site footer. We're happy to help with early access, the app, or questions about upcoming quests.

The seventh face of the sundial is missing.
